This weekend it was Marti Autentico Mojito Rum. I picked up a 750ml bottle on the way home from work on Friday at our local liquor store. I had been planning on making Mojitos over the weekend for our friends Jon and Lindsay. Without their knowledge or consent they were going to be the Marti Autentico test bed!

First Impressions:

The Marti Autentico bottle itself is attractive. It has small picture of Jose Marti, who is a Cuban national hero, and an important figure in Latin American Literature. The label has a nice lime green tropical theme, and the word "Mojito" adorned with limes and mint. Looks are important because 1/2 of making Mojitos for your friends is looking cool while doing it!

Aroma & Taste:

The Marti Autentico Mojito definitely has a lime/mint aroma and flavor. The flavor is not overly strong, but it will bring some pep to your Mojito. I thought the additional lime and mint flavor really made the Mojitos pop. Our friends were truly surprised, and they said these were the best Mojitos that they had ever had.

Here are the first four of twelve Mojitos I made that night. These are made in blue glasses, so the Mojitos have a bluish tint to them. The Marti Autentico Mojito has a slight sea green color to it, that made the Mojitos all the more colorful.

Final thoughts:

I was very pleased with the Marti Autentico Mojito rum. Like I said earlier, it brought a little more flavor to the Mojitos than regular light rum. I paid just under $17.00 with tax for the 750 ml bottle, which lasted through twelve Mojitos. I would definitely recommend the Marti Mojito to any Mojito aficionado!

How to grow your own mint!

Before you have a Mojito, you have to have mint!
